HISTORY OF MEDICINE AS IT RELATES TO CHIROPRACTIC

NOTES ON CHIROPRACTIC

Includes my definition of Chiropractic and the American Chiropractic Association's
definition of "subluxation".

My definition of Chiropractic – The art and science of diagnosis and treatment of

somatic physiological dysfunction resulting from improper neural function, using manual

manipulation (“the adjustment”) as its primary treatment method in order to facilitate

restoration of proper alignment of joint components and neural function.

------------

Defintion of Subluxation (ACA)

A subluxation is a complex of functional and/or structural and/or pathological articular

changes that compromise neural integrity and may influence organ system function and

general health. A subluxation is evaluated, diagnosed, and managed through the use of

chiropractic procedures based on the best available rational and empirical evidence.

To give the listener a feeling for the zeitgeist (spirit of the times) of 1895, during which Chiropractic was born, please look at an article about Nursing from that period.
